I just wanted to post some links people will find helpful as alternatives to RapidShare. Many of these service providers allow massive upload file sizes; upwards of a gig or more!

Enjoy! I hope this helps people get away from RapidShare, but also helps just in general. I had a fellow student who lost all his work because he did not have a flash drive to store the files. He had uploaded his final project to the professor's server and then had no choice but to save the files locally. Our college arbitrarily wipes the HDDs for some classes, but not for others. Thus, his work was lost because he had no idea about file uploading places.

I do not expect that you have tested them all, but which one has the fastest uploadtime - (less servertraffic??) according to your experiences??

From my experience, my upload times are crummy for some odd reason. I think it has to do with my setup cause I am behind a proxy so I cannot verify. Also, I have not used them all as you mentioned. I wish I could provide a better answer, but my upload speed is always weak

It is working fine now, although all hosts have problems now and then.

I agree here, ME/MU are pretty good choices. There is a large enough file size limit, the members' file management is straightforward, and I can usually upoload 3 files at about 70K, or an imputed volume of 2,100K (I'm on DSL). The download speeds for users I've talked to are anywhere between 100K and 400K, depending on the time of day and location.

And let's face it, ME/MU aren't in the gunsights of the RS posse.
